I’m going to be 25 in August. Sometimes when I think about it, I get scared but then I get excited. 25 just might be lit. Anyway, here is my idea of things that should be done before turning 25.
Work retail

Working retail will teach you a lot about people and about yourself and how much patience, or lack of, you have.
Take a class outside of your career field or what you did in college

We all have things that we’ve wanted to study, but didn’t want to spend four years learning it. Take a class at your local community college or Skillshare.
Work a job that you hate
Sometimes these jobs just fall in our lap, but this will teach us what we like and what we don’t like. What we take and for how long we’ll deal with the mess.
Quit a job
This kind of relates to the above item. If you’re not happy somewhere, especially where you’re making money and you have to go every single day, change it. Quit, but always make sure you have a plan B.
Read 50 books in one year

Reading can’t hurt. You’ll be surprised the things you’ll learn on this journey to reading 50 books. Read however you like, with a physical book, on a tablet or even listening on Audible.
Go to a live poetry reading
I was 17 when I went to my first live poetry reading. I wasn’t super into poetry, but one of my friends thought it would be a great outing for me and wow was she right. So much beautiful energy and positive vibes came out of that experience. Try it.
Pay off your credit card
You’ll feel good about yourself in the moment. Pay it off and then use it again and then pay it off again. Satisfaction.
Become a mentor
There are so many young people out there who have goals and aspirations. Some of them really don’t have anyone to look up to either. If you are in the position to do so, become a mentor. You’ll make a difference in someone else’s life and it will be a great experience for you as well.
Travel to a place you’ve always wanted to go

We all have a bucket list, the intense gratification with crossing something off of the list is enough to make you want to just go somewhere you’ve always wanted to go.
Save money

As you get older and you become responsible for things, it’s important that you keep money in a savings account. You never know when things will turn sour and you’ll need money.
Invest

Make your money work for you. Watch it grow with little to no work on your part.
Get a tattoo
You don’t have to, but it’s pretty cool if you do.
Be a tourist in your own city
Especially if you live in a big city like me, you can often take it for granted. Explore your own city and fall in love with it again.
Volunteer
Volunteering is just so selfless. Do it.
Cut your hair
Sometimes it’s the change that you need in your life. I know it was the change that I needed in mine to recognize my real beauty.
Dye your hair
You and I both know that you want to so go for it. If you’re unsure however, please go to a professional colorist, I wouldn’t want you to lose your hair.
Take care of a living thing (plant, animal)

Having something that’s dependent on you, is so fun. If you’re not ready for a child, this is the next best thing.
Get rid of toxic people in your life
No seriously, they gotta go. Get rid of them NOW.
Take yourself on a date
Dating yourself is so important. Who knows you better than you. I also thing dating yourself makes for better relationships with other people.
Learn or start learning a foreign language
Don’t be lazy. It’s a valuable skill to have and it makes your more marketable.
Learn to say no
Saying no might hurt other people, but if it’s in your best interest, do it.
Learn to cook your favorite meals

Mom and dad won’t be there forever to cook for you so you have to learn how to do it for yourself.
Ask for a raise or negotiate your salary
If you believe you deserve it ask for it the worse that can happen is a no and then you either deal with it or move on to another position.
Go see one of your favorite artists in concert

I promise you’ll leave with no voice.
Find a consistent workout regimen
We need to be healthy out here in these streets, so please find something that you can stick to.
What are your thoughts?
Great post- after with them all. I think I’d add to do something that scares you, this could be covered in some of your items but it’s always good to get out of our comfort zone

Hi Catherine! Thank you for your comment, I definitely agree with that. I did something that scared me this year and it really did change my perspective on life and myself. 10 out of 10 would recommend.
